Art Nouveau Cut Steel Handbag Butterfly Clasp Frame
Fantastic early 1900s gold-tone beaded purse with scallop shell design and looped fringe. The beads, which are faceted in a luster gold-tone, are all sewn in individually. The brass frame has a magnificent butterfly on both sides and a short hand chain. The inside is lined with a silk fabric and trimmed with a flower ribbon. The beaded bag is sewn to the frame. All original. There are no makers marks.
The frame measures about 4 1/4 inches across, while the bag is about 7 inches by 7 inches, plus the 2-inch fringe. Excellent condition, with minor damage to the silk and a few loose threads. No missing beads.
